This is where directories, forums and blogs come in to there own as they invariably are included amongst the so called "authority sites", so you can quality back links simply by virtue of submitting articles to these sites. These high page ranked sites are what are generally referred to in the SEO world as "authority sites". In conclusion however, it must be noted that article marketing is labor intensive and perhaps even a little tedious, however once you have witnessed the benefits of article marketing you will see that once your articles are published they can be still delivering traffic years later.
