Whether you are new to network support, or an IT professional ready to gain accredited qualifications, you'll find hands-on MSCA study programs that are suitable for both entry levels.

If you're just getting started in IT, it may well be necessary to have some coaching ahead of having a go at your MCP exams required to achieve an MCSA. Search for an organisation that will create an ideal program to help you - with a team of advisors who will assist to make sure that your choices are good ones.

Commercial certification is now, undoubtedly, beginning to replace the traditional routes into the IT industry - so why has this come about?

With the costs of academic degree's becoming a tall order for many, alongside the IT sector's general opinion that accreditation-based training is closer to the mark commercially, we have seen a large rise in Adobe, Microsoft, CISCO and CompTIA certified training paths that create knowledgeable employees at a fraction of the cost and time involved.

Academic courses, for example, become confusing because of a great deal of background study - with a syllabus that's far too wide. This prevents a student from understanding the specific essentials in enough depth.

It's a bit like the TV advert: 'It does what it says on the tin'. Employers simply need to know what areas need to be serviced, and then match up the appropriate exam numbers as a requirement. Then they know that anyone who applies can do the necessary work.

Often, trainers provide mainly work-books and reference manuals. This can be very boring and not ideal for remembering.

If we're able to get all of our senses involved in our learning, then we often see hugely increased memory retention as a result.

Interactive audio-visual materials featuring instructor demo's and practice lab's beat books hands-down. And you'll actually enjoy doing them.

Any company that you're considering should willingly take you through a few samples of the type of training materials they provide. Expect video tutorials, instructor led classes and many interactive sections.

Many companies provide training that is purely available online; sometimes you can get away with this - but, consider what happens if you lose your internet access or you get intermittent problems and speed issues. It's much safer to rely on actual CD or DVD ROMs that removes the issue entirely.

When was the last time you considered the security of your job? For most people, this only rears its head when something goes wrong. But in today's marketplace, the painful truth is that true job security is a thing of the past, for the vast majority of people.

But a sector experiencing fast growth, where staff are in constant demand (through a big shortfall of properly qualified people), creates the conditions for real job security.

The 2006 UK e-Skills analysis demonstrated that more than 26 percent of IT jobs are unfilled as an upshot of a chronic shortage of appropriately certified professionals. So, for every four jobs that are available around IT, employers are only able to find certified professionals for three of the four.

Highly trained and commercially grounded new professionals are as a result at a total premium, and it seems it will continue to be so for many years to come.

With the market growing at such a rate, is there any other area of industry worth taking into account for a new future.

Many trainers supply a practical Job Placement Assistance service, to help you into your first commercial role. Having said that, occasionally this feature is bigged up too much, for it's relatively easy for well qualified and focused men and women to find a job in IT - because there's a great need for well trained people.

Nevertheless, avoid waiting until you have qualified before polishing up your CV. As soon as you start studying, enter details of your study programme and place it on jobsites!

Many junior support roles have been offered to trainees who are still studying and have yet to take their exams. This will at the very least get you on your way.

You'll normally experience quicker results from a specialist independent regional employment service than any course provider's national service, because they'll know local industry and the area better.

A slight grievance of a number of training course providers is how much people are prepared to study to become certified, but how un-prepared that student is to get the job they've acquired skills for. Don't give up when the best is yet to come.
