There is a certain perception, especially with the internet and so many random sales offers and opportunities vying for our attention, that any type of salesperson is sleazy or unreliable. We've all heard of the used-car salesman stereotype and we strive to avoid being 'taken' at all costs. In this climate, as far as MLM Leads - generating quality MLM leads can be quite difficult and downright frustrating. Most people have become much more guarded about who they listen to and the types of offers they will even take the time to look at casually. Get rich quick schemes abound and there have been all the stories about even high level business people and investors getting taken for a ride. So, naturally, people want to guard against being 'taken in'. So how does an honest salesperson get the attention of prospects and legitimately build a solid business in the world of network marketing when everyone is so jaded? Well, for most salespeople, rather than think that question through, they simply start spamming everyone they know in the hopes that someone will eventually bite. This approach to marketing is like trying to write neatly on a lined sheet of paper when you're blindfolded. You may, out of sheer luck end up with a letter or two on the correct line, but more likely, not. The number most important keys to success in any type of sales or marketing are, and will always be, 1) knowing who your target market is, 2) what they need and 3) where you can find them. So, the question remains. How do you find these targeted, quality leads, specifically in the MLM game? The answer is really simple. You build relationships. You get to know who you're prospecting so that you can determine if they're actually worth the effort you're making to recruit them. Who's worth the effort? People that you've built a relationship with based on 1) shared interest in your opportunity (other network marketers, especially newbies) and 2) your ability to provide them with answers to their questions and challenges. You basically have to offer enough value that your prospects will trust that you will lead them in the right direction. By aligning yourself with people who can learn from you and come to you for help with skills that they want to cultivate, you set yourself up as a mentor, an expert - the 'go to' person that your target market will come to when they see that you are knowledgeable and able to help them get to where they want to be. Your market is investing in your just as much as they are investing in the opportunity you have to offer. Put yourself in a position to give them what they need - and then over deliver so your prospects can't help but keep seeking you out to get the results you've accustomed them to. The kind of success that has been eluding you until now will much more easily come your way if you start changing your thinking from selling to helping. Don't try to give someone something they don't want, need or care about. There are plenty of other people who will be more than willing to take you up on your opportunity - so focus on finding those types of people wherever they hang out and you will eventually start to see your down-line grow tremendously.
